CrossRef Full Text

Recently, some customers have indicated that there is some confusion among end users regarding the link label "CROSSREF," when it appears under the Full Text link category.

In response, we are expanding the Link Label to read

"Publisher's Website (CrossRef)"

to denote that the full text link resolves to the publisher's web site, using a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

Crossref is a non-profit organization, comprised of over 350 publishers, whose mission is to be the citation linking backbone for all scholarly information in electronic form. CrossRef's reference linking service creates links through DOI's, which are tagged to article metadata supplied by participating publishers. The result is an efficient, linking system through which a researcher can click on a CrossRef link and access the full text article from the publisher's website.
