ABOUT Limiting to Full Text
Ovid's innovative Limit to Available Full Text feature
is available in Ovid Gateway. The Limit to Full Text allows
Ovid users to limit search results to all institutionally-subscribed
and open access electronic full text. This feature is enabled
for Ovid databases individually, where the limit accuracy meets
or exceeds 95%. View a list of databases
that are currently enabled.
As with linking, limiting search results is done by matching
metadata, and comparing results against a user profile of
target coverage. Accounting for the 5% margin of error are
records that have no link to full text appearing in the limited
search set, and, on rare occasions, citations that do have
full text links not appearing in the limited search set.
When a linked citation fails to appear in the limited set,
the reason has to do with the information Ovid receives from
its bibliographic database providers. When required matching
data (such as ISSN, Volume, Issue, Publication Year, or Page)
is missing, inconsistently presented, or incorrect, it is
impossible to create a link.
Ovid is working with our Information Providers to correct
problems that exist in the data that comes to us, and we continue
to work on improving the accuracy of this comprehensive limit
to provide the best possible search results for our users.
